Become a part of the energy and creativity of Jumpers and Jazz and join an art workshop.
In this workshop we will create a unique and luscious piece of fabric by using a variety of methods to decorate and add colour to the background, then embroidering details according to a design plan. . We will experiment with different sources of indigenous colouring agents and discuss ways of collecting and extracting them. Leaf printing will be used to create borders and patterns, and embroidery to compliment and highlight the marks and patterns on the fabric.
Webs Jude's magnificant knitted webs have become quite famous, gracing parks and buildings across Australia. Jude will teach you how to create your own web and you can join in on installation day putting webs up on trees in the CBD
Workshop participants will create a small sculpture in natural fibre and paper with wearable elements, using recycled and found materials. This workshop evokes the coming together to share materials and ideas, hence "warm and fuzzy". Lesa will share her knowledge of cellulose fibre from its natural state to processed pulp. The process of pulp production for sculpture is essential to this workshop. Casting & dipping, wet & dry collage, stitching, wrapping & binding techniques will be explored, to create assemblages sutable for installation or body adornment.
Mobius Knitting Jude will teach participants to make a mobius style sample collar. The pattern is based on a continuous loop and is created using circular needles.
